Salary Range: The full pay range for this role is $16.54 to $27.55 per hour, and the good faith estimated starting pay for this position upon hire is $19.80 to $23.12 per hour. We generally base our salary decisions on factors including but not limited to, relevant work and leadership experience, education, demonstrated performance, internal equity, and in some cases, geographic location.

 

Internship Duration: 12 weeks begining May 2026

Responsibilities

  • Support Land Use Justification for Solar: Research benefits and opportunities for siting solar projects on farmland.
  • Create content that helps market renewable energy projects in a positive way.
  • Attend webinars and provide written summaries of materials and supporting preparation of power point presentations and other external communications. 
  • Support Community Engagement activities by providing research and drafting responses for questions and concerns that come from the community, for both solar, wind and energy storage projects.  
  • Prepare presentations for internal and external meetings. 
  • Competition Tracking 
  • Greenfield Development Support 
  • Various Project development tasks, including helping with permitting, land control, project management tasks. 

Goals of Internship:

  • Become familiar with land use practices and their implications for society, the economy, food, and energy security.
  • Ensure the development team is well-informed to support and engage stakeholders with the most recent and relevant information.
  • Learn about the issues that arise for and against projects and how to formulate effective arguments to maintain community support.
  • Get involved in project issues to understand the pros and cons of renewable energy siting in communities and how to strategically position a project for broader community support.
  • Track competition in wind, solar, and energy storage sectors, gaining familiarity with key players, differentiators, and strategies for development in specific areas.
  • Improve analytical skills and synthesis of information.
  • Become familiar with the intersection of land availability, interconnection availability, and community support to identify new sites for developing wind, solar, and energy storage facilities.
  • Learn about the various tasks involved in project development and how teams collaborate with both internal stakeholders and external consultants throughout the development project phase.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Undergraduate Student
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Business, Science, Renewable Energy, Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience working with various Office software applications
